calgary passes surveillance camera pilot project

on march 18, calgary city council voted 12 to 2 to start a pilot project of indiscriminate video surveillance in the downtown core. the project will consist of 24 cameras, cost $500,000 and disproportionately target the economically disadvantaged and people of colour in the east downtown area.
the only two councilors to vote against the proposal were pincott and ceci.
