anti-fascist legal defense fund

the anti-fascist legal defense fund is an abc effort to raise money for the legal defense of a calgary activist charged with 'assaulting' a neo-nazi on october 14, 2007.

background
on october 14 2007, the aryan guard, a local white supremacist gang, held a demonstration on the steps of city hall. they managed to muster 15 or so stormtrooper wannabes and were met by a counter-demonstration of 75 anti-racist calgarians.

during the confrontation, which became quite boisterous at times, one of the anti-racist demonstrators, who cannot be named because he is a minor, allegedly pulled down a bandana one of the neo-nazis was wearing as a mask. the neo-nazi responded by throwing a water bottle, hitting the anti-fascist activist in the head. both men were arrested and charged with assault.

abc calgary is committed to supporting the anti-fascist demonstrator through both acts of solidarity and by building a fund for his legal defense.
