pie pair member lily's statement on her trial
"first of all, i want to thank everyone who has shown such support and encouragement to me while i am going through the legal system. it makes the process a whole lot easier!
previously, on the first day of trial, the crown prosecutor had presented five witnesses and my lawyer had me take the stand. the first day was adjourned before i was cross-examined.
today was the second day of trial and actually only lasted about an hour and fifteen minutes. i was cross-examined and my lawyer presented one witness for the defense. the verdict was adjourned to a later date, after february.
result: inconclusive. i don't know if i will be found guilty on any charge. there is still the possibility of jail...but not until february at least!
highlights of first day of trial: the cops said i was wiry and strong and that i was a handful. the crown presented video footage from ctv and it showed i actually touched stelmach's hat!! my aim is vindicated!
highlights of second day of trial: i debated the physics of cream pie with the crown and whether it was possible pie filling could fly backwards. we did agree that the physics of throwing pie filling is different from that of throwing a baseball. the judge let me wear my scarf around my head to keep warm. my witness debated the consistency of cream pie with the crown; eventually, they agreed it was 'loose'.
well, that's the gist of it.
i'm happy i'm not in jail tonight but once the system has you, your life is theirs until they spit you out :)
still, my situation is more comical than dire. the system has persecuted and is persecuting people in worse ways, so i encourage everyone to support canadian political prisoners (well, ALL political prisoners, really, but the ones in canada are the ones we can significantly support), families in the child welfare system and all those caught in the legal system because of poverty and racism.
thank you to all again and hopefully, i will be writing the next update on this side of the cell!"

Lots has been going on with
Lots has been going on with our growing family lately. Lily has strep thoat. She's been pitiful, but now that her medicine has kicked in, she's insane debt consolidation. I swear, she didn't say 30 words all day on Sunday. When I got home yesterday, Josh said she had not stopped talking since 4 p.m. She wasn't quiet until she fell asleep, and even then she woke up asking for a story. I think she's getting better now, though loans.
Today I went to the doctor. I'm almost 14 weeks pregnant. I'm mostly over the sick part. I can't complain about morning sickness at all. I just has a nausous feeling, but no throwing up credit card. The cloak of exhaustion has lifted as well. I don't just want to go home and get in bed every day now. I would say the main difference now it that I look pregnant. I look much bigger much sooner this time. It's ridiculous, but I am growing another person!
The doctor's appointment was pretty routine. I lost a pound since last visit, making me down 4 pounds since my first visit debit card. We got to hear the baby's heartbeat. Since Lily can't go back to daycare until tomorrow, she got to hear it too. She can't understand why the doctor couldn't tell us if was a boy or a girl. I feel the same way! I was hoping that we could find out the week of Thanksgiving, but he changed my appointments to every 3 weeks for the next couple of times to get us on a different schedule. That means THE ultrasound will be the second week of December. I still say boy. Lily goes back and forth. Really, we don't care either way. If it's a girl, great, we know what to expect and have lots of little girl things. If it's a boy, great, one of each, a new adventure!
